COMMUNITY  PROSECUTION
What is Community Prosecution What is Community Court
Community vs. Traditional Court Community Court News !

What is the difference between

Community Court and Traditional Court?

n      There will be no fines or court costs.

n      And no jail.

n      The sentence includes community service and social service.

n      The offense can be dismissed

How can you get involved?

In order to provide sentencing options to offenders, the court needs service providers, businesses, non-profit and community agencies engaged in the process.   Specifically, the court needs agencies that are willing to offer services to the offenders as part of the sentence or to allow them to do meaningful community service through the agency.  We also need volunteers who are willing to help oversee the community projects such as beautification and litter pick-up.

Each case will require a different sentence, so the greater number of options available the greater the impact of the court will be.   We are looking for agencies that can provide job training, financial assistance, day care, training, drug treatment, counseling, mentoring, tutoring, GED training, and other services to the offenders.  We are also need businesses and agencies that can provide a location for meaningful community service.

Most importantly, we need citizen volunteers to help out with the special community projects.

The court aims to function without outside funding, relying on the existing resources in the City of Lynchburg, so we need your help.

If you or your agency would like to volunteer, please contact Shannon Hadeed the Neighborhood ACA by e-mail at shadeed@ocalynchburg.com or by phone at 434-455-3769.
