Kenneth Tyron Chatman found Guilty of Distribution of Cocaine.

On June 24, 2009, a Lynchburg jury found Kenneth Chatman, 19, guilty of Distribution of Cocaine.  Distribution of Cocaine is a felony with a sentencing range of 5 to 40 years incarceration.  It also carried a fine of up to $500,000.  For this crime, the jury recommended that Chatman be sentenced to 30 years incarceration and fined $50,000.

 

This crime occurred on August 26, 2008.  On that date, Chatman sold $40 worth of crack cocaine to an informant who was working under the direction of the Lynchburg Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit.  The transaction took place near the intersection of Rivermont Avenue and Charlotte Street.

 

Although the jury recommended a sentence of 30 years, Judge Mosby Perrow, III will conduct formal sentencing on July 17, 2009 at 9:30 a.m.  The defendant is currently being held without bond in the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center.
